Default Advise sought about remote operation of camera

In order to photograph a bird, I want to set up a camera, then operate it
(press the shutter is all I need) from about 15 metres away. The camera
must be able to wait in a 'ready to shoot' mode for possibly many hours.

What choices are out there?

Infra-red seems to have a maximum range of about 5 metres.

Hi Dan

You don't say what camera you have but if it's a 'run 'o' mill' autofocus
camera like a canon, then you can buy a short remote release, and cut into
the short section of wire. Add 10 metres or so (works out a lot cheaper than
a long remote release). There are usually three wires that will both fire
the camera and work the autofocus. Match the wires and you're sorted. I
would turn the autofocus off for this type of photography.
