This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) to change

rec.photo.digital from an unmoderated group to a moderated group. This

is not a Call for Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time. Procedural

details are below.





RATIONALE: rec.photo.digital



RPD is a high-traffic group with too many trolls. Too much profanity.

Too many for sale (FS) and for auction (FA) posts. Too many personal

attacks and flame wars. Too many off topic posts.





CHARTER: rec.photo.digital



This group is for the discussion of all aspects of digital photography,

including digital cameras, scanners, image manipulation software,

printers, and CD-ROM technology.



All postings made to this group should conform to existing Usenet

guidelines (see news.announce.newusers for guideline documents). This

group explicitly prohibits the posting of commercial advertisments or

other promotional material, whether or not it is an any way related to

photography. Binary postings (i.e. non text postings) are prohibited.



This group is moderated.



Moderation policies:



The moderator reserves the right to cut off the discussion of a topic

when its "signal to noise ratio" has dropped too low and reject postings

on recently discussed topics.
