Without doubt, 90% off all spam originates with yahoo mailing
accounts. That corporation shows no interest in trying to control
this.

If you really want to destroy every one you dislike or disagree with,
you have a problem and should get help. Violence is NOT called for in
such problems. With a commercial business the answer is simple. If
too many folks dislike the product they will stop using it.

So how does that apply to spam originating from Yahoo accounts?

And if someone does, I am sure you will be one of the first people that the
cops will come looking for.

And how does spam marked with a Yahoo return address mean that it's
coming from Yahoo?

Although it's interesting to note that Rich was posting from Google
Groups. If you want to talk about spam....

Rich, you are absolutely incorrect. Way way over 50 % of spam originates
from servers in China, Russia, and Korea. Just because the FROM or REPLY
addresses seem to be Yahoo or some other ISP does not mean the spam came
from there. FROM and REPLY addresses are very easily forged. The USA's
YOU-CAN-SPAM Act has done nothing to reduce the amount of spam.

If you are really concerned about spam, get a free reporting account at
SPAMCOP.NET and contribute to their widely used, aggressive, and effective
spam blocklists. Or spend $30 per year for an email account that is
filtered by their blocklists.

You know what the irony is? Joe Average spammer who spams out 10
billion emails gets 10 years in jail.
What did a Yahoo exec ever get for facilitating TRILLIONS of them?

I was more annoyed with groups being spammed on usenet.
You are absolutely certain yahoo isn't the conduit for any of this?

Well, this is roughly correct, but not for the reasons you think.
People who refer to the CAN-SPAM Act as YOU-CAN-SPAM Act don't
understand some basic things about spam. Any legitimate company won't
spam you, because it's simply bad for business and dangerous in terms
of legal risk. So CAN-SPAM has done a great job of cleaning up the
email practices of legitimate businesses.

Of course, CAN-SPAM has absolutely no effect on all the fly-by-night
spammers who use botnets of hijacked computers to spew crazy amounts
of spam. But this is not a problem with the CAN-SPAM act, it's just
the nature of the beast. No matter what type of anti-spam laws you
pass, the black-hat spammers will simply keep breaking the law. The
problem is not with the law (which is what you implied), but with the
impossibility of enforcing any anti-spam law at all.
