Help retrieving pictures! (please.)
I was recently transferring some digital photos from my Kodak CD33 to my computer, and I lost some along the way. I tried a system search to make sure I didn't accidentally drop them in the wrong folder, and was unfortunately correct. They are already deleted off of my camera too. So, I was wondering if anyone on here would know of a way to recover them from my camera's memory card, if it is possible. The memory card is a 256mb SD memory card, and as I already stated the camera is a Kodak CD33. I tried a search through similar topics on this forum, but the only ones that actually applied to my situation had links that no longer worked. Thanks ahead of time for any attention to my plight and help offered as well. -- Cody ------------------------------------------------------------------------ View this thread: http://www.photographytalk.net/viewtopic-180716.html Send from http://www.photographytalk.net |

Just don't use the card until you recover the pics. I use a free program I got from Foto Erhardt called "Digital Image Recovery". I think now they have stopped offering it but there are others. The method works because when you delete a file on a FAT drive, it just deletes the first character of the file name which Windows sees then as being unoccupied space and overwrites the area. All the recovery programs do is ignore this and deliver you the files. Simple and usually very effective. Try this link: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/d...very_software/ Douglas |

I've successfully used "PC Inspector File Recovery" (freeware) to recover deleted images from memory cards, including SD cards. To use it, or similar recovery software, you'll need a card reader unless your camera is recognized as a disk in win explorer. http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm -- jimbok |

The best suggestion for the future is to COPY the pictures from your card to the hard drive. Once you are sure they are all there (and pref. have a backup often), then delete them from the card. I have seen too many cases of "moving" files from some sort of media to another where some/all get "lost" as you experienced. Hope you find the lost ones and get them back mikey |

Presumably you've just deleted the files, which only erases the directory entry that tells the system the filenames. The file contents are still there on the card until you shoot other pictures that overwrite the sectors. Use a disk recovery utility to recover the files. |
