Default Caught on Camera, Chimping Revisited

I had to chuckle thinking about that chimping video John posted in the
Digital SLR-Advantage thread when I shot these tonight. :-)

As was pointed out in the thread and the video. I just had to laugh tonight
when I saw her doing it. And YES I chimped when I took the shots just to
make sure I got them. ;-)

It was a fun video. pre-D I swore I wouldn't chimp ... but hell yes, I
do. Not for the image itself but for histo / highlights it is
indispensible. Chimping tames the shot.

Unfortunately (and I will be recording the details this fall), methinks
using the DSLR to "meter" for slide film won't do the trick. A +2/3
bias from the D reading will be needed.

New meter is chosen: Sekonic 558. Just waiting for the bi-annual
Sekonic sale which should start any day now.

Cheers,
Alan.

That's what makes the video so funny IMHO. Who in their right mind isn't
going to use the tools provided to them to get the best possible results...

I've thought about doing this with my wife by preshooting with my D and then
transferring the setting over to her film camera but alas she's one of those
type who wants to be left alone to do it her way. Can't argue with her
results most of the time so I don't push it. I'm still curious how the two
would compare.
