WTF Adobe?

wrote: While you don't buy a TV from the cable company, the cable company does own the box that makes my TV receive stations. only if you buy/rent *from* the cable company. you don't need to do that. You are making assumptions about something you know nothing about. i know more far about cable boxes than you do. Sure you do. i definitely do. would you like schematics of some of them? The cable company I use supplies the box at no charge. I don't rent it or buy it to use it. It is on permanent loan to me as long as I subscribe to their service. If something goes wrong with it, I exchange it for another one. the price is included in the service. it's not free. Aren't you the one who constantly moans and whines about "I didn't say that"? I said they are at no charge. I said they loan it to me. you've also said nothing is free and that it's paid for somehow. not all cable companies include the box with the service, which is why cable boxes are sold outside of cable tv providers. Well, that may be *a* reason, but it is not *the* reason. Some people buy their own unit because it allows them to record more channels simultaneously than their cable provider's box does or record and watch more. i never said what the reason is. the reason doesn't matter. the fact is that some people rent cable boxes and other people choose not to rent and buy them instead. If, after terminating service with either, you don't return the box or dish, the company will charge you. not if you bought it somewhere else, they won't. Aren't you the one who constantly moans and whines about "twisting"? You can't return what you didn't get, so if I have to return it, I must have got it. missing the point entirely. They wanted my dish back and supplied a box with the ability to ship it back at their expense. But, I was unwilling to go up on the roof and remove it. because it's not worth their time, exactly as i said. You're lying. You said: "they don't want the dish back. that's absurd." You snipped that because now you're back-tracking. They do want the dish back or they wouldn't pay for the box and offer the return shipping. i'm not backtracking. if they want the dish they can send someone out to get it. they want you to do their work for them because it costs them more to send one of their employees to retrieve it. however, if they can get you to do their work for them, then why would they say no? Because it costs them money. it costs them money to send someone out and the cost of the dish is not worth the cost of the person to get it. very simple. they're love it if someone *else* did that work for them. As you say, it's not about you. What goes on elsewhere may be different. exactly, so why are you insisting that the way your system works is the worldwide standard? The difference is that I point out that what I speaking of is what is done by the provider I use. Notice I said "the cable company I use". Notice I said "the cable company does own the box that makes my TV receive stations". I make no claims about what is done elsewhere. You make blanket statements without that explanation and then you backtrack to cover your error. i never said anything about any particular provider. what i said was: only if you buy/rent *from* the cable company. you don't need to do that. again: if you buy/rent one from the cable company (and you're paying rent even if it's bundled in a package), you need to return it. if you buy it elsewhere, you don't. that's 100% true and there is no backtracking. |
