Tricking a Canonet QL17 meter.
Is it possible to tweak the Canonet meter so I can shoot ASA 3200 in
auto mode? Recalibrate the electronics so when it's set to 800 it's really setting for 3200? Can it be done linerally through the scale? Thanks! (Sorry I know it's not technically an SLR question) |

I would recommend against doing this though.. Your best alternative is to use a handheld meter and shoot in manual mode.. Colyn Goodson http://home.swbell.net/colyng http://www.colyngoodson.com |

In answer to your question the only way to do this is to have your meter modified.. or use the meter set to 800 asa then drop the QL17 into manual and allow for two stops (i.e increase the shutter speed by 2 speeds or decrease the aperture opening by 2 stops ) -- Is it possible to tweak the Canonet meter so I can shoot ASA 3200 in auto mode? (Sorry I know it's not technically an SLR question) Its Ok to ask Canonet questions as this is a 35mm NG and the QL17 certain uses 35mm film Rather have 35mm questions than digital camera questions and the tireless 35mm equivalent lens questions from the digital people |

Just a mental gliche...I know it's a 35mm group. I lurke and search. And...I've seen the mucho digi threads. Thanks for the info. I'm trying to set this camera up, also, so my wife can just point and shoot, rather than meter/compensate. |
