It's proprietary.

For a developer formula that should be similar, try ID-68.

There is none. It's proprietary. I've heard that's it's very similar
to Crawleys FX4 though.

Lew, here's a formula from a mag article from around 1980 for
substitute Acufine:

Water 2.5 cups

Phenidone 1/8 teaspoon

Sodium Sulfite 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon

Hydroquinone 1.5 teaspoons

Borax 0.5 teaspoons

Sodium Carb (Washing soda) 3/8 teaspoons

Pot. Bromide 1/8 teaspoons

Water to make 1 Qt.

I've found this to be a very good dev. and follow the times listed in
the Massive Dev. Chart.

In the formula above can anyone suggest a substitute for phenidone as here
in Australia it is not easy to get hold of. I have plenty of Metol.

No.

If you want to make a developer similar to Acufine, you must use
phenidone.

The point of Acufine is that it is a phenidone-based developer. If you
use Metol, you have a variation of D-76 or any number of other similar
formulas.

Here's a typical one:

Agfa 14

Fine grain film developer
Water, 125F/52C 750 ml
Metol 4.5 g
Sodium Sulfite (anhydrous) 85 g
Sodium Carbonate (monohydrate*) 1.2 g
Potassium Bromide 0.5 g
Cold water to make 1L

* = 1 g Sodium Carbonate (anhydrous)

Mixing instructions: Add chemicals in specified sequence.

Dilution: Use undiluted.

Starting point development time: 15 mins.

Thanks UC, I figured that as well.

Do you or anyone else have a formula for Agfa Refinal?

I think all of AGFA's products are unpublished.
