D70 noise
Hi all, I'm getting a strange problem with my brand new Nikon D70. Even at
lowest ISOs the dark areas of the image are far more noisy than the bright ones. You can see an example at http://dev1.xperimedia.com/noise_sample.html, a 100% full quality crop of a raw shot at 400 ISO, 1/25 F4.5 (please note: this is noise, not cerumen!!!). Sometimes the noise depends on the blue channel, sometimes on the red one, almost never on the green one (probably this is due to the Bayer filtering, but I don't mind...). Do I miss something or is there anything wrong with my camera? Has anyone a clue? Any help appreciated. Steve |

Loading this image in PSE the histogram shows the blue channel to be a tad underexposed. Perhaps this is part of your problem. Have a look at http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tu...se-right.shtml for a really good treatise on getting maximum bandwidth out of your digital camera sensor. I've personally not experienced any noise whatsoever with my D70. It's images are silky smooth. Good luck, ================================================== ========================= Chris |
