The same (fixed) amount of sensor elements are spread over a little over
twice the 6cm width, producing a bit less than half the resolution at 12.7
cm.
And over approximately half the 6 cm width producing approximately twice the
resolution at 3 cm scan width.

Well... 2540 (not 2450). Not a lot by comparison to today's scanners,
anyway. But, there are other aspects of scanner performance that may make
it competitive with pro-sumer models. I still want to see the scans, and
then I'll determine what I'll do with it.
