This political crap is off topic for this group. Take it elsewhere. alt.politics or whatever. It's not off-topic. I contemplated putting "OT" in the title before i started this thread but then decided not. And here's why; there are photographers who frequent this group who have been inconvenienced by the politics of the Bush era, whether it be their films meticulously searched in airports, or the many posts of photographers being stopped and intimidated by homeland security and the like for simply snapping a picture in public. |

It completely destroys your creditability with me. What do Mr. Hickey's political views have to do with his ability to get credit? Nothing, but my post clearly illustrates the problems with spell checking programs....... Freudians would think nothing is ever innocent or accidental. It probably means you won't be lending your money to any socialists. |

So someone with a catastrophic illness can afford and does deserve his burden, but those earning more than $200,000 can not afford and do not deserve to have their tax cuts repealed?! Look....It's very simple. I am a capitalist. I don't like "Medicare". I don't like Social Security. I don't like unequal taxes. I want everyone to be charged the same for the cost of government that they incur. The "rich" have been taxed according to an accelerated tax table all of my life. I learned this back in the days when I actually did my own income taxes. I believe everyone should have to do their own income taxes, so they could see how the government screws some people. That's what I don't like. This is what I like....I like people to be responsible for themselves. I like government policies that teach people to be responsible for themselves. IOW, you should save for your own retirement. You should buy your own health insurance on the open market. And the government should not steal money from the ones who had the foresight to save for their own retirement in order to pay the way of those who didn't. Now, there are some people who couldn't pay their own way. I speak of people who, for some reason or other, were born defective in some way, such that they couldn't earn a decent wage. Their God has forsaken them. (I love to tell the Christians) These people represent less than 2% of the general population. I believe that these people should be paid an average wage by the government. That means that 1/50th of everyone's paycheck should go into this fund. But none of this money should be paid to anyone who is capable of working, but who does not by choice. That means most of the millions who are on welfare right now would be cut off at the pass......So there would be more than enough money for this. The government is taxing us at a rate that is ten times this right now. Now....You asked me some question about Kerry's health plan....I don't know anything about Kerry's health plan, except that it is nothing like the plan that I described above. Neither is Bush's plan (if there is one) anything like the plan I described above. We live in a Socialist society. I hate it, but I have to live with it. But I always vote for less taxes on anything that comes up on the ballot. I have never voted for the government spending one lousy cent more than they do the day before the election, on the day of the election. IOW, if it costs us one penny more, I vote against it. So, my instinct tells me that I should vote against Kerry, and against anything he wants to do. He is a socialist. Ralph Nader is a socialist. Bush is 90% socialist. When I go to the polls on November 2nd, I will be desperately casting my vote for that lousy 10% of Bush that is not socialist. and that, is the best answer I can give you about the health plans Bill, what you are speaking of is neither novel or revolutionary. I used to have such beliefs too, and aspired for a capitalist ideal. That, however, changed on a visit to Thailand, and some other underdeveloped nations. The political ideal of capitalism you aspire for is exactly how it is in many underdeveloped nations, where government is weak and welfare is absent, and it is almost precisely, in my opinion, why they remain underdeveloped. The political ideal you preach is exactly how it was in Europe prior to the French revolution, and its abandonment, in my opinion, was a main reason why Europe (North America is a European society) advanced so rapidly over the rest of the world in the two centuries that followed. |

"Annika1980" wrote in message ... From: "William Graham" The president is much weaker than most people would believe.....But this doesn't stop the liberals from searching for a way to blame the Vietnam war on Bush.....:^) Nobody blames Bush for Vietnam. His lack of service during that time has come into question. There is also some question of whether Bush is an alcoholic or simply a "dry drunk." Why would it matter? - I am a cigarrett-a-haulic. I haven't smoked anything since August 1st, 1983. But I am still addicted to cigarettes.....So what? - As long as Bush doesn't drink, who cares whether he's an alcoholic or not? |
