I wonder why people are upset over Canon's Live Preview feature in
their 40D and 20Da? If you don't like it, don't use it! It's as
simple as that. Just like when you were learning to use your DSLR
after graduating from P&S. Us Astrophotographers have been begging
the Canon folks to follow up on the 20Da's Live Preview and finally
they have. Do you know how hard it is to see a 10th magnitude galaxy
(or worse yet, 10th mag.Nebula) through an optical viewfinder VS. Live
Preview? It usually takes a computer program to make up for not
having Live Preview. Just do us (who use live preview) a favor and
use it or not, just quit complaining it's there.

Does Live Preview allow one to zoom in and see levels of resolution (and
therefore "focus") beyond what the human eye can achieve? If so, that's
cool. If not, I don't understand it.

With Olympus, yes. 10x zoom. You can't match it with an optical
viewfinder for critical focus.

I still shudder when I remember trying to focus on the Eskimo nebula,
from the suburbs, via a 12" scope, coupled to a P&S with a TINY
electronic viewfinder with about 134,000 pixels. But, because of the
enhancement possible with live view, you could at least see the
object. Now, with high rez LCDs, things are better still.

That is also apparently the case (a magnified LCD video view) with
the new Canons.

There are things deserving of complaint :

[Original translation:]
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential
is invisible to the eye.

[New translation:]
One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible
to the eyes.

[Original translation:]
If this should happen, please comfort me. Send me word that he has
come back.

[New translation:]
If this should happen, be kind! Don't let me go on being so sad. Send
word immediately that he's come back.
