I will
have to do a patent search and see what patents Pentax has filed, but I
would think some type of anti shake is overdue.

Apparently, Pentax has indeed recently filed such a patent application -
this was discussed in the dpreview forum a few weeks ago.

What you may also find interesting is another rumor that was circulating on
dpreview a couple of months ago: that Pentax had discontinued many or even
most of their basic full-frame 35mm lenses and were supposedly going to
concentrate on the digital series. If true, this would suggest that any
higher-end digital cameras to come would not be full-frame but still APS -
Pentax is also apparently committed to medium format as the next step up.

Makes me wonder if the K-M sensor-based IS solution is a license of
Pentax' patent.
Canon's eye-controlled AF was licensed from Pentax.
And I'm certain Pentax licenses from the others as well.
Seems to be the Japanese camera mfr. method.

Sigma's HSM and Nikon's AF-S ultrasonic in-lens motors are licensed
from Canon. Almost every manufacturer has licensed the TTL automatic
flash control from Minolta.

It's the method for a lot of big companies. IBM made more from
licensing technology developed at the Watson Lab than they ever did
selling IBM PCs.

Most hard drive technology in the world depends on IBM patented
technology, including those micro drives that fit in a CF card.
