firm statements in the specs from K-M
regarding MLU and DOF preview would nonetheless be quite welcome.

Don't forget the shutter release button. The presence of a button where
that button is normally located doesn't mean that it is actually used for
that purpose; I haven't seen it mentioned in the literature.

You are being extremely ridiculous, Alan. I won't post more on this matter.

I'm being ridiculous? Gee, among the most important features serious photogs
look for in an SLR are PC-sync, MLU and DOF-preview. You would think that
Mindless at K-M would actually state those in their brochures and spec and not
leave it to speculation and investigation.

Cheers,
Alan.

Mindless at K-M, that has a nice ring, like Sleepless in Seattle.

What's the reason why a serious photog would want PC sync? Guess
I'm not one, but I'm curious. Isn't the Minolta flash system
extensive or reliable enough, or wouldn't using hotlights make
exposures more predictable?

Sync is for studio strobes (hotlights are those things that are very hot and
bright and won't shut off). I use the sync on the camera when I have funky
lighting setups where the flash from an accessory flash might not reach the
sensor on my studio strobes.

The Minolta wireless system is okay, even great, in simple lighting setups, but
since it is TTL you do not get consistent frame to frame flash as you always get
with studio strobes.

Cheers,
ALan

Well, I should add that the wireless flashes can have manually set power levels
and fired wirelessly from the camera, but the flashes sometimes revert to TTL
wireless when the appropriate God hurls his bolts at you... Also, the only
wireless flash I have that will work with the 7D is the 5600HS. The 5400HS and
3500xi reportedly won't. I will experiment, of course.

Cheers,
Alan.
