How to create a multi-page JPG or PDF
On Sat, 01 Nov 2014 11:52:28 -0700, Thad Floryan responded thusly to:
Is there a way to create a multi-page PDF or JPG of static flash content? The "Screengrab (fix version) 0.98.02c" addon to Firefox [right-click context menu] select "Save - Complete page/frame" (aka Ctrl + Shift + !) creates a single PNG file Neat Hallowe'en treat, Thad -- many thanks for that tip. install the ny times app. That's not a solution. You can't (and shouldn't need to) install *every* app there ever was, just to view every web page that uses flash. |

Maybe they're trying to force the NYT app that Savageduck is talking about. That doesn't really help. I was able to print the NYT web page using the Screengrab extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...b-fix-version/ That's the same (short term) workaround (effectively) as installing the NYTimes App since that's not the only flash on the net. So, you can't (and shouldn't) have to install *every* app on the planet just to view flash content. So, I found this workaround, but I agree as much as anyone that it's a short term solution to a long term problem (as is the NYT app). |

meanwhile, the nytimes app will work properly, without issue, and provide a much nicer user experience. And what do you use for every other web page that uses flash? Having to install every single web page app on the planet can't possibly be the suggestion long-term solution. Can it? |

There's a lot of very funky webpage coding going on these days. I'm very curious about the reasons. Large amounts of obfuscated script have become common, with some pages being little but script. And I increasingly see pages where simple IMG tags have been designed with a dummy SRC attribute, or none at all, while a data-src attribute provides the URL of the image. It's a method at odds with the guidelines of HTML5 (which says that data-* should never replace an existing attribute) and it also hobbles the webpage, requiring script just to make the images on the page visible. The only possible reason I can think of for such brittle and unnecessary code is that the author wants to make sure their page is broken without javascript. |

Unfortunately the designers of web pages are usually incompetent, and keep trying until their own system ( in this case probably using the times app) works. So, yes it is the solution to this case. |
