Don't think so. It's too soon to push out a new model, while the old one is
still doing good in the sales. We'll see EOS 10D mark II on Photokina,
that's for sure, but 300D mark II will probably show up on PMA.

Canon has a past history of replacing dSLR models about once per year. So it
wouldn't surprise me at all. I though believe the 10D will be dropped first
and the will become a 10D Mk.II, or a 20D... This may be based on an EOS 3
chassis and could well cost 50% of the 1D Mk.II

I think it's too optimistic...

From what I've heard the 10D Mk II shoud cost just about (or a tad higher)
than 10D's cost when it showed up. I think this will be a realy tempting for
current owners of 10D like myself - I'm already considering getting 10D mk 2
next year when the prices start dropping, and also keeping my current 10D.

It will all depend on how well the camera turns out, of course, but given
the predicted 8 or 9 mpixel resolution and various resolved issues such as
metering and E-TTL II. mode, it all sounds very promising. I'd be really
surprised if Canon blew it up with 10D mark II...

From what I've read so far, the 10D mk II shoud be halfway between 10D and
1D mk II, and aimed at professionals who do not need the extragavant speed
of 1D mk II, but want the extra megapixels.

Only Canon knows what they are going to introduce at PhotoKina. Canon, is
not talking and everyone else is full of sh-tuff.

D30 announced May 2000
D60 announced February 2002
10D announced February 2003

1D announced September 2001
1D MkII announced January 2004

1Ds announced September 2002
follow-up rumored for September/October 2004

300D announced August 2003
replacement ???

Hmmm, doesn't look like much of a record to me. There's been pretty strong
rumors about the 1Ds and 10D replacements. I seriously doubt Canon will
announce a 300D replacement yet.

What there IS a good history of is that each successive replacement carried
an MSRP lower than the previous model. D30 was around $3k, D60 $2k, and 10D
was $1.5k. The 10D replacement will likely be based on the existing 10D
body with a few enhancements such as 2-3 more mp, larger buffer, E-TTL II
and carry a price of $1500 or less.
