Default Checking shutter opening and closing on a Maxxum 9000

Does anyone know how to check if the shutter is opening and closing on
this camera ? With the lens on or off and the door open the shutter
fires too fast to see if there is light coming through. Should i use
a darkened room to slow the shutter down on do a manual exposure
setting.

Set the camera to M and choose a slow shutter speed (or "Bulb").

Set it to 1/15 or slower, you should see it... Maxxum 9000 is
fully manual if needed.
