Step 3 -- film handling & management
Next issue with getting into 8x10 is for me film handling.
And it's not for developing so much, though that is a hassle. It's the space required just to manage them. And to dry them. Loading is no real issue. I've got a Photoflex "tent" used in 2 steps. Step 1 is to take the film out of the holders and put it into a box. Step 2 is to take it out of the box, put it on a hangar, and put the hangar itno an empty, dry tank. Then I cover the tank & remove it. (A small but adequate tank). But after processing, room to hang to dry is more an issue. 4x5 takes so much less space. Sleeving & storing start to eat it up pretty quickly as well. I've got sleeves but am working on a storage solution. What are your methods? I'll scan a contact print later this week & solicit some opinions. My lenses are three: #1 Fujinon-W 210/5.6. Old one. Reasonably sharp. A nice wide angle. #2 Ilex Paragon 12". Appears sharper than the Fujinon. But prone to some flare. #3 APO Nikkor 360/9 process lens. Lenscap shutter. f128 @ 1 sec in good sunlight. Really, really sharp. I like the Nikkor and would recommend to anyone to get one from Dagor77 on eBay. If you can afford a shutter, that is. Takes a Copal 3S or equivalent. Or a packard. I'll attempt to mount one in the next couple of months. For film I'm using some Ilford that Midwest Photo has in OEM packs. Processing is in D76 1+1, 11 mins. For agitation I rock front to back and alternately twis side to side, and a two or three times life & lower. Just to keep the edges developed. Negs came out nice. Now if only I could afford some Acros 8x10 ... Collin |

What are your methods? Use three ring sleeves, put the sleeves in a three ring binder (I use the kind that close up into a box to minimize dust, Light Impressions and many other places sell them), put the binder on a cabinet shelf, close the cabinet door.
