I don't think even the Hologon would make it (more like 110 degrees). 1:8 means f/8 for those who think you meant f/1.8 Now an f/1.8 lens of this sort would be truly remarkable. A Goerz Hypergon of 110mm would cover with a little left over (140 degrees). But you really need the spinning front stop, the light fall off from center to edge is around 8 stops, maybe more. -- --- Richard Knoppow Los Angeles, CA, USA |

Kirk I don't think the Angulon will make it. 7x17 requires an image circle of about 470mm diameter. To cover this a 210mm lens operates at 96 degrees. An Angulon covers about 90 degrees although the circle of illumination is larger than this, about 102 degrees. So, it probably won't vignette but the image quality near the margins will not be very good. The Angulon has a very large image circle because of the extra large first and last elements but the Wide Angle Dagor has better correction and about the same actual coverage, about 90 degrees. For greater coverage, at least with decent image quality, you need a modern W.A. lens. Richard Knoppow Los Angeles, CA, USA |
