Canon WaterProof Housing?
Hi,
I'm curious about the performance of these canon waterproof housings. Kinda costly compared to camera but I could use one on the lake when I get in rainstorm. I guess my major question is does it affect the quality of the photographs? I looking at getting something for an A70. Thanks for any information. I guess the real question is the price worth it? That is always a hard one to answer. Thanks, Alan |

Also wanted to know if the WaterProof housing is easy to use and setup. Forgot to put that in the last post. Sorry about that. Thanks, Alan |

That is always a hard one to answer. Thanks, Alan Hi Alan, I use the WP DC700 with the A70. I have used it quite often while snorkelling, and it will soon o a dive trip with it. I am very happy with it, (see link below for two photos taken with it, and there will probably be more soon). Only problem you will probaly have when you use it in the rain is droplets on the lens. Pretty irritating. Whether the price is worth it depends on how often and how you will use it I suppose. For me, it was worth it. The setting up part is pretty easy, make sure the O-ring is VERY clean and lightly greased, stick the camera in and close it. Done. all controls is easily accessible, except for the shutter button, which takes a bit more force to press than usual, but you get used to it fast. Of course you cannot use the optical viewfinder, but the LCD is easy to see, even underwater. (easier underwater, actually) Hope this helped a bit. Feel free to ask if I can describe anything else. -- QUIPd 1.02: (473 of 679) - I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. My photo albums: http://www.pbase.com/sny |

Canon WaterProof Housing?
I've used the Canon A20 and waterhousing and had images published. I use it
mostly in the impact zone in the surf, so I'd say their waterhousings are quite good, you'll have full control over all camera functions. To avoid water droplets, eat an apple before you swim. Then when you spit on the lens port, water droplets will disperse more easily. Condensation inside the waterhousing can be problematic - going from a hot day into cold water. I put my housing and camera in the fridge for 10 mins, assemble, then no probs in cold water. Derrick www.surfworx.com.au "WhaleShark" wrote in message ... Do you think Rain-X or something like that would work? Rain-X is great for dispersing droplets on a car Windshield. I guess since this is plastic, the question would be is Rain-X safe to use on the case? I'm sold I'm going to order one now to find the best price! Later, Alan |
