That's not what the article says -- it says that Leica will *begin
development* on a digital body for M lenses.
Quite a difference.

It's fake. The article, that is. Go to www.yahoo.com, and see if you can
find it.

I call bull****. It's a feeler. Nowadays anyone with a few thousand
dollars and half a brain can have a nonfunctional prototype cut.

Leica and digital seemed to be mutually exclusive and totally
orthogonal to each other. Leicas are liked because you can beat
one up for years without even a battery. Now with digital, you'll
probably have to carry your solar panel, battery chargers, a sack
load of batteries, a couple of hard disks, a laptop, a CD-burner,
a sackful of CD-R's to last you on one vacation. It's no longer
the Leica philosophy.

What's the wind lever for? :-)

When someone does make something like this (manual type digicam) with a full
frame sensor I'd be interested. The digilux 2 looks neat but like all
digicams will be obsolete as soon as it's released.

For that old time feeling? Posing? It serves the same purpose as the beat
up fake collapsible Summisomething lens.

This is functioning prototype of a medium format Leica:
