Wow. I thought the point of the Adaptall (and TS, T4) was to give the
automation that the T mount lacked.

The Adaptall lenses have no electronic components, and the EOS bodies have
no mechanical ones, so the lens and body can't talk to each other.

The Nikon Adaptall lenses will mount on autofocus Nikons and many will even
meter with the lenses, because the mechanical connections exist. Ditto
Pentax.

However, many EOS bodies can meter with a non-electronic lens attached -
I've used several M lenses and accessiries with Elans and the EOS 3. I'm
sure they could do the same with the adaptall lenses - I just do'tn know if
a double adaptor system would be worth the work.

It is very easy indeed; Adaptall II for Pentax M42 and Pentax M42 to
EOS. Just leave both adapters on the lens. Couldn't be easier, and
the M42 adapter opens up so many possibilities with so many brands of
screw mount M42 lenses available at very attractive prices.
