Default C5000 Zoom

A while back I picked up an Olympus C5000 zoom, and am pretty satisfied
with it, for the $150 or so I paid for it. One thing that I wish it
had was better low-light capability, but otherwise, it's quite a fun
toy (pretty ugly camera, though). It even comes with a wireless
shutter release, which is kinda cute (do other cameras have this?). A
nice feature is the panorama function that comes with the software and
allows you to stitch a number of photos together, but only if you
select the pan mode in the camera before shooting the photos.

I must say that, skeptical though I was, this panorama feature performs
remarkably well, and in fact I only had to tweak some noticeable seams
a couple of times in PS. One thing that I learned is that one should
shoot these photos at a somewhat shorter focal length, to allow for the
inevitable need for cropping the final stitched image. I thought I
would share my first few panoramas with y'all.. You have to disable
automatic image resizing in your browser to view them full-size.

The first attempt--downtown Chicago from the parking garage at Rush
University Medical Center:

The next is the old Cook County Hospital and the Eisenhower Expressway.
You might recognize the facade from the opening scenes in a couple of
TV hospital dramas. I got a kick out of seeing half a person in the
right side of the photo:

Two photos of the I-355 expressway extension construction site, near
southwest suburban Lemont. Notice how the image compression
particularly affects the trees in the bkg. of the first one:

The next one was sort of a challenge to fix in PS, as you can see from
the extreme change in lighting from the left of the frame to the right.
There was a lot of lens flare that I tried to eliminate in the left
side:

Thanks.
