Are Windows repair solutions like a traffic light button?

Ever notice that almost always, windows "fixes" for things like boot corruption or disk errors never work? They go into endless "diagnosing your pc" and "repairing your pc" loops that themselves need fixing? And before long, you are back at the dinosaur of DOS, fiddling with "fixes" at the command-prompt? Only after all that and worthless "refreshes" do you realize a complete re-install of the operating system is needed? DOS fixes like chkdsk /f/r c: can turn into HOURS long endurance tests, even on a fast pc? None of this is really surprising, given Windows current incarnation is what, about 100 million lines of code? I haven't noticed anything like that at all. I've been using Linux systems exclusively for 20+ years. Debian is rock solid and I've never had an issue doing an update or upgrade with it. |
