I'd rather have a Sigma than a Canon.

Now THEM'S fightin' words!!!

It's the God's honest truth. Okay, maybe I wouldn't ever
buy a Sigma,

You're being closed minded, who knows what they might put out in the
future ... (although I'm not holding my breath for the new Foveon
based sensor).

This one is funny. I bought a Sigma 70-300 APO in Italy because I did
not want to haul around my Nikon and Canon glass in unknown areas,
although it turned out I was safer in Italy than most of the states at
present, anyway I have been surprised by some to the shots from the
Sigma. They look just fine. Not as sharp as some old Nikons I've had but
nice pics. My wife loves it for water reflection shots. As many have
stated in this group it all comes down to what you are going to be
shooting. Many of us tend to be hung up on specs and lens tests and "what
pro uses what". I still think my wife's best work was with an old Ziess
Contaflex and DD mentioned he loves Jim Marshall's work with old Leicas.
My wife went with Canon EOS a few years back because of auto focus
issues when Nikons were slow to catch up and at the time the Canons
worked better for her vision problems. Hell, you never know when she
might go with Nikon in the future or Pentax or..............We have to do
what is good at the time and in todays world that changes quite often.
Canon today, Nikon tomorrow and for all we know they could both go belly
up in a few years now that they are in the Digital marketing nightmare
and we will all be looking at Pentax...........LOL!!!!
