Sigmas number of 45MP is based on counting the three separate color
sensors at each site separately; that is, it's a 15MP non-Bayer
camera.

It's not in any useful sense a 45MP camera; resolution
measurements on previous Foveon-based cameras make this very clear.

very true.

A 15MP non-Bayer camera should show somewhat increased
resolution (as measured by actually photographing things and
seeing what you can resolve in the resulting images), especially
color resolution, compared to a 15MP Bayer camera; but nothing
like 3x.

nothing like 2x either.

where the difference lies is the aliasing and sharpening added in the
raw converter. in other words, it's fake detail.
