Default Monitor / Printer Profiling

I'm about to bite the bullet and do some profiling. I profiled our
cameras some months back, and assorted software keeps pointing out to me
that it would be a good thing to profile my monitors. I'd also like to do
my printer and scanner at the same time, for the 2-3 times per year that
they actually get used for something color-sensitive.

So: when I did the cameras, I used XRite's ColorChecker Camera
Calibration software and color target, and the process seemed relatively
straightforward. So my first thought was to use their hardware. To get
the printer calibration, I would have to use i1 Studio[1], which is a
fair chunk of change, but it gets good reviews and has recently come down
in price.

But while I was looking around for the i1 Studio, I also noted that
Datacolor's SpyderX Studio[2], while nominally a bit more expensive, is
currently running on sale (US$300 at one shop).

Has anyone used either one of these products? What's your experience?

For What It's Worth, I'm on Windows.
