For $999 .. get an EOS 300D or D70 [+some $ for the lens ] soon.

F828 can't focus as fast as your hand do I bet.

Tell me the differences between the 828 and the coolpix 5700 (Which I
currently own). I feel the 5700 is extremely lacking with low light
(indoors) situations. I have been shooting some indoor non-flash
concerts and really would like something that will focus faster. Any
thoughts?

I'd suggest the Canon EOS Digital Rebel for $999. No, not the
EOS 300 D, since that is the overseas version of the Digital Rebel,
but the American version....if you're in the US. Otherwise, the 300D
is the one for you.
The reason I suggest this is because I bought one, and I read
articles about it, and you can't focus any faster than the Rebel can.
When I gave the Rebel to my daughter for Christmas, she already had
the Nikon 5000, and the Nikon 5700, and I'll admit that they both did
an admiral job of taking pictures, but they can't compare to the
Rebel.
When I gave my daughter the Rebel for Christmas, I had charged
the battery pack the day before, knowing that she would want to use it
Christmas day. She opened the box, attached the included lens, and
fired off 6 consecutive shots of her boyfriend, who was sitting across
the table from her. The camera focused, and flashed for all six
shots, which were taken in less than 3 seconds, and every shot was
perfectly focused and lit.
The articles that I read about it included one where a
photographer used it to cover a car race. He said that even at 200
MPH, every shot he took of the cars as they passed him were perfectly
focused.
Reading this and watching my daughter shoot that rapid sucession
of pics, I was/am totally impressed with that camera. It's well worth
the money.
Oh, and the included rechargeable batteries are good for about
400 shots, using the flash for half of them. They do offer a double
battery pack that attaches to the bottom of the camera, that's good
for about 1000 shots, using the flash for 50% of the time. My
daughter uses hers for weddings, and the last one she did, she took
over 300 pictures, and had plenty of battery power to spare.
The only downside, if you want to call it that, is that the
camera is made of high impact plastic, not metal. They did this to
hold down costs. I have no problem with this, since I take care of my
cameras, but some people prefer a metal housing.
Anyway, I hope I was able to help you in some small way....
