Default The (possible) Return of Velvia 50!!!

Velvia 50 May Return!

There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for photographers who
rely on Velvia 50. A press release from Fuji UK promises a spring 2007
reintroduction of this famous film.

Many photographers who used Velvia 50 were disappointed with the
results from the new Velvia 100. Velvia 100 is a very different film
than Velvia 50, offering less exposure latitude and different color
characteristics.

Despite the prevalence of dSLRs, many fine-art and landscape
photographers continue to use film with medium and large format
cameras, due to their superior resolution and flexibility. The return
of Velvia 50 would be welcome news for film photographers.

That's nice. Although I'm very satisfied with Velvia 100 and 100F.
Shot several rolls this summer (120 format). Colors are rich and
vibrant and I doubt that anyone could tell the difference between 100
and 50 by just looking at the slides on a light table.

I still have half a dozen Velvia 50 in 135 and a couple in 120 in the
freezer...

Cheers,
Alan
