I was about 6 feet away, and it was shot with the X-E2 + XF55-200mm.
Scrub Jays aren't too squirrelly around people.
The Florida Scrub Jay is a threatened species.
The Florida Scrub-Jay is actually listed as threatened, but Jays tend
to behave as if they don't have a care in the World.

Developers are
clearing out the areas that are the bird's natural habitat. There are
a few parks where there is scrub, and they are a favorite place for
photographers. It's bird that anyone can get close to.
The Florida Scrub Jay will even land on your finger for a selfie.
