OK then, please advise the shape of the sensor !

Since the field of the lens projected image on the sensor is obviously
circular, I assume the sensor is a square with corners near the edge
of the circle, to get the most information.

Someone else suggested it might be 4:3 but I don't know.

If it's a square, then each side would have the square root of 18.2 MP
or 4266 P in each direction, and is each pixel really actually 3, or 1
for each color, RGB ?


This sensor is rectangular.
The actual physical dimensions of this Sony 1/2.3” sensor are 6.16mm x
4.62mm = rectangle. This gives you a sensor with a max resolution of 4896 x
3672, for an aspect ratio of 4:3.

You have the in-camera, or post processing crop option of a 1:1 aspect ratio
where the largest possible image will be 3672 x 3672, and the sensor remains
a rectangular 6.16mm x 4.62mm.
