Here is a B&W take of my Exposure 7 trial.

For this rendition I wanted to see how it matched up against NIK Silver
Efex Pro 2, and I am impressed.

Here I used an Ilford B&W emulation + Vignette, and added 50% grain as
if developed in Rodinal, and a few other tweaks.
This really looks like grain, not noise.

What was your final verdict on HDR Express? Did you buy it?

Yes. I like the subtlety of the results, and I can afford it. It adds
another tool to my tool box.
Very different HDR results from those produced by NIK HDR Efex Pro or
Photomatix, and even HDR Pro in Photoshop.

Wasn't that you who posted the photo of a tree next to a road,
inviting everyone to try some HDR on it? Did you try the new software
on that one?

Yup! Here is a rendition of that tree done with HDR Express 3.

For ~$80, I'll probably get it, too.

Okay, I got the lighting where I wanted it pretty quickly, but when I
saved the image as a Tiff, it seemed to desaturate it in a major way.
Did you notice anything like that? Here are the before and after
images:

They are both JPG, but I worked with the raw file, and saved the
adjusted image as a Tiff. The Tiff is desaturated just like the JPG.
There is a saturation slider, and I'm sure I can fix this, but this is
not WYSIWYG for some reason, and I would have to do the trial and
error thing.

Why did you save it as a tiff?

As opposed to what?

Is tiff, or jpeg, your only options. I was thinking you were talking
about a PS plugin, or that there was an option to export to LR or PS.

I do most everything in DXO Optics Pro (& Viewpoint) now. LR & PS are
just for things I can't do with DXO - cloning, spot removal, etc. I
export from DXO to TIFF so I have an uncompressed processed copy from
the original raw file.

I honestly don't do much post. I don't try to sell, or display
anything, except displaying some stuff on Flickr. But even with
Flickr, I do little post. I just point friends to the photos of car
shows, air shows, whatever. In fact, this link points to the first
time I bothered with cropping, leveling, and anything beyond basic
exposure before I put them on Flickr (warning: it's just a bunch of
cars):

I see you had a poseur "Fabulous Hudson Hornet" in that set, here is a
real runner,

What's the background on those? I'm not familiar with them.

You just have to go back to 1948-1956.

I see... What makes the one I ran across a poseur? I'm not saying it's
the real thing, but I'm not following what you're saying.

Just verbosity on my part, they were just words leading to my two
shots. The Hudson on your collection reminded me that I too had shots
of a "Fabulous Hudson Hornet".
