I'm only subscribed to alt.photography, don't want to subscribe to a lot
of newsgroups, and would miss the often informative comment which

Such does not preclude discussing DSLR's on rpd or alt.p, but it does
preclude discussing P&S on the rpd.slr-systems NG.

Perhaps, but it looks a bit elitist.

There are over 100,000 newsgroups. Perhaps all should all be x-posted
together to avoid any suggestion of elitism.
