Lens dilema
I agree with John. I use this combo myself and get on very well with it.
20D and 70-200 2.8IS with 1.4 extender suits me needs to a tee. Sometimes I
wish I had a 400 prime, but this is very rare...

Canon 20D/30D would be a good middle of the road DSLR, however a 500mm lens
is going to cost you, especially if you need a big aperture.
Brett gets pretty good results from a EF 400 mm f/5.6L USM...

I know. I have to agree.
It is crazy that they aren't 100% IMO. Especially on something like a 5D.

Canon screwed themselves (or did they?)
Nikon have lost a huge amount of users. Although good manufactures, Canon
is the DSLR market share leader by far and there is a reason for that.

The same as you.
Makes the cost of the equipment hard to swallow, however you have captured a
moment in time that is irreplaceable when it comes to family photos.
