Does a good lens help focusing?

All other things being equal, a lens with a maximum aperture of f1.4 will allow the autofocus to focus faster (and maybe more
precisely) than a lens with a maximum aperture of, say, f4 or less. That...

Seeking experienced advice:

Hi Ken,

For what you've described, you really don't need 10-12 megapixels. 4 megapixels is all you'll need for prints of that size - 5
megapixels will easily give prints up to 6*8in or 6*9in @...

Hi Lars,

A Web search for 'Edit EXIF' will turn up many EXIF editors, at least some of which claim to allow you to edit the date. For

raw editing

Hi Dick,

AFAIK, except for the few cameras using Adobe's DNG format, there are no image editing programs that edit RAW files, per se. Apart
from the Adobe DNG exception, none of the editors saves...

Zoom, SLR and P&S

Yes, both Canon and Nikon make sensors as large as 35mm film (36*24mm)

Zoom, SLR and P&S

Because the P&S lens is not 37mm - it is a 37mm 'equivalent' in terms of 35mm format. The Canon Xt is using a true 35mm lens but the
sensor is smaller than the 35mm format.

Cheers

Any printer that prints at multiples of 200dpi (eg 600dpi, 1200dpi) can print at 200dpi.

Why pixel peeping (usually) makes no sense

For my 7.2MP Panasonic FZ8, 11x14 is "excellent" at about 216 DPI.

To produce an 11x14 print without interpolation from your FZ8, you can only print at 200ppi. Printing at 216dpi is only going to...
