Suggest a P&S digicam pls

(Posting here b/c I'd prefer suggestions from people who are familiar
with film as a benchmark of quality).

Hi all -

Need to upgrade my P&S digicam, as my ole faithful Olympus C3000 died
a horrible death in the trunk of my jeep.

I already have a Canon 10D, a film SLR body and a bunch of EF lenses,
which I use for nature photography. The P&S is not going to replace
it, but complement it - it is essentially going to be my new
carry-everywhere camera (my previous pocket camera, the Olympus Mju,
died an equally horrible death while I was white-water rafting).

I will be using it for candid street photography, grab shots, etc.
Despite its more spontaneous usage, I expect to get shots with it
which I'll want to enlarge and frame. As such, I need a high-quality
camera - something which will give me sharp 11x14s, say.

Basically, I need the following features:
- minimal shutter lag - I am used to SLRs and want something that
comes as close to it as possible. The Oly was horrible in this
aspect.
- quick power on
- RAW format
- small and pocketable (really pocketable - not the
pocketable-only-if-your-pockets-are-made-by-Abdullah-the-tent-maker
types) - preferably one where the lens doesnt stick out. I'll be
using it for candids and in situations where I dont necessarily want
to stick out as being a photographer
- 5Mpix at the very least
- focal length of 28-75 or so (28-100 will be even better), with
fastish glass (2.8 or thereabouts)
- (added bonus) uses CF cards - although I can survive if it uses
something else

Needless to say, it needs to have sharp, high-quality glass... the one
thing which virtually all digicam review sites ignore.

Given the plethora of cameras out there, I was hoping to narrow the
choices down to a few good ones before going out there and doing my
research.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
