Finepix S6000 review?

Anyone know where I can find a review of the fuji Finepix S6000. I'm
looking for a "prosumer" super zoom. I don't like some of the things I've
heard about the Panasonic lumix super zooms. I just heard about the Fuji
today,(sorry if I'm behind times), but it says it came out in mid July.
Nice thing about it, IMAGE STABILIZATION. My other choice is the Canon S3.
Need to find more info on the Fuji before I buy though. Any input, good,
bad, or condescending is appreciated.
Scott

Nope, not yet. See below for why...

I'm
looking for a "prosumer" super zoom. I don't like some of the things I've

Like what? They are a bit noisy at high ISO's, and overdo the noise
reduction at the expense of detail, but otherwise are very good
cameras.

What says it 'came out' in July? AFAIK, the S6500/S6000 was announced
in late July, and has not yet hit shelves, or perhaps only just.
According to:
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0607/06...ilms6500fd.asp
"The FinePix S6500fd will be available from UK retailers in October
2006"

Nice thing about it, IMAGE STABILIZATION.

Huh? NO IT HASN'T! Like other fuji's in this range, it probably has
an automatic ISO boost, linked to the focal length and available light.
This helps a bit, but is nowhere near as effective as a true IS (as
found on the Pana's).

My other choice is the Canon S3.

I'm looking at the S9500/S9600 myself as a backup camera - these are
very similar cameras (just higher resolution).. My only reservations
being:
1. Lack of IS. This is balanced a little by the Fuji's good high-ISO
performance (and in the case of the 9500, the 9Mp resolution!), but
overall it still falls a little short of the panasonics. I don't shoot
much at long focal lengths and I am used to tripod-ing, so it's not a
deal breaker for me.
2. Fairly mediocre JPG compression, even on high settings. (Although
for critical work I would shoot raw).

The Fuji lenses are good, but maybe not quite as good as the
Panasonics..

These possibly flawed opinions gained from reading lots of reviews....

Most cameras, even DSLRs are a bit noisy at high ISOs. Panasonic
reviews tend to show them more than a bit noisy at moderate ISOs and
exceptionally noisy at high ISOs. But if used at their lowest ISOs,
which would probably be the case for most shots, they do appear to
be very nice cameras.

Read reviews of the competition at dpreview and check the "comparison"
it compares resolution of the competition. I bypassed Fuji for several
reasons and got an H5, but Fuji, Panasonic or Canon for some would be
better depending on what you photograph. I.S. is not on Fuji and to me
indespensible. There is no best camera overall.
