Nikon has no imagination. They should have offered them as a potential lucky
strike if they ordered the D5, D500 or 3 lenses. Like a draw. But at the
same price as the other camera gear.

Yeah... That would have been good market strategy. Mix 'em in among the
standard batches! Adorama and B&H would have been so happy... :-))

The person would have the option to reject it, but it would be a lot more
interesting and fun than trying to sell to some collectors who don't
represent a fraction of the buying-public.

No they would have that not! You don't get it. Think of all the returns
the above mentioned outlets would get from those trying to get that
perhaps last memorabilia from Nikon for it's last 100th anniversary.
They might not get to have another one... :-))
