Where to develop digital photos in UK?
 

Where does everyone in the UK get their digital photos developed? I
haven't had any printed since I bought my first 4MP camera.

Online companies are no good for me as I only have dial-up, so couldn't
upload them. I noticed Lloyds Pharmacy in town is advertising £4.88 for
50 prints, which I assume will be 6x4 or whatever standard size is. Is
this a good deal, and has anyone had any developed from Lloyds? Good
quality?

Or are there any other good deals? I'd probably be looking to get around
100 done.

I've had good results from Boots for regular film, and really shoddy
results from Klick Photopoint on one occasion (again regular 35mm), where
they pretty much ruined the photos, even after I took them back 3 times.

Almost anywhere - the unit at our local Safeway seems to work well for
snapshots, they take CD or your picture card

Or download to your PC and hoik them up to Jessops, or
http://www.metrocolourlab.com/, to get prints sent back to you by post.

If you are in Birmingham Metro have a reader at the counter and provide a
very good service

results from Klick Photopoint on one occasion (again regular 35mm), where
they pretty much ruined the photos, even after I took them back 3 times.

I've used Jessops for 7x5 holiday snaps - very good and I think they arre
reasonably priced.

i use jessops..7x5 excellent quality and speedy give em a try

At home. They don't need to be "developed", just printed. Any good
inkjet printer will do, and you can make prints up to A4 (or even A3 on
some of them) though you can buy one of the specialist dye-transfer
photo printers if you prefer the quality, or a laser printer if speed
is important. No need to entrust your pictures to anybody else.

Don't dismiss online firms if you only have a few pictures - I used to
use photobox.co.uk on dialup. ISTR the files for 8x10" prints used to
take about 30 mins to upload.

Also, some of the online firms will accept CD-ROMs in teh post - look at
http://www.fotoserve.com (note: I haven't used them recently, though
I've been impressed in the past)

I've used Jessops for 7x5 holiday snaps - very good and I think they arre

Do they still insist on only processing prints handled through one of those
kiosks? I normally sort the photos I want onto CD first so I just want all
CDs photos on the CD processed. Last time I went to Jesspos I queued for 25
minutes to use the (sole) kiosk and after waiting that long for the person in
front (who still hadn't finished) I asked one of the counter staff if I could
leave my CD (as you can with a film) to get prints for all and collect the next
day (there was no one else in the shop) but they said no. Now I always go to
Boots who do have a counter service and are happy for you to leave the CD and
collect with your prints if it takes a while to download. Never had any problems
in Boots and last time I checked they were cheaper than Jessops!
