Lines per mm are not a suficient criterion. Distortion is of equal
importance.

Controlling aberrations and distortion is a tall order. I don't know if it's as important as resolution, which cannot be "fixed."


Much can be fixed (or the effects reduced) in software these days, even
in-camera software.

what matters is the end result.

by correcting for some aberrations in software and other aberrations in
hardware, the end result is will be better than by using only hardware
methods.

tl;dr it's a good thing.

So you have to decide if the resolution loss is acceptable. A
compromise, like everything!
