Americans love Portugal ! (Sony A350 pics)
 

I came to know an American couple from a Sony forum who came to Portugal for
a holiday.
The last two days I gave them a more or less guided tour of my area. We had
a great time together and had some excellent dinners.
They now are moving along the coast up north to Porto and later they'll come
back and go see the Algarve.

One week to see all of Portugal is not enough!

Never been to Portugal but my mum liked Portugal better than Spain.

Yes, next on my list is a new lens.
The purple is standard on both the 18-70 and my 75-300 Sony.
I'm not sure which is better:
Sigma 17-70 or Tamron 17-50 2.8
I saw the Sigma, maybe not a real macro, but can shoot very close and is
suppose to be very sharp.
Tamron is more light strong(?), but leaves a little tele to be desired,
don't know about the close-up-macro and issues of either.

but then again, most of the time I don't
use an electronic sensor...

to do with purple fringing as

optical problems. Yeah, it's expensive. But as we
usually say in the woodworking trade: "buy the best
tool and only cry once"?
Still if I had to choose, I'd probably go for the
Sigma: it's been a looooong time since I last saw
anything truly good out of Tamron...

I wouldn't be so sure. SLRgear is unimpressed:

Compare the pictures with the 18-70 kitlens, specially at 35mm wide open and
at f8 and you'll be wondering why you bought it in the first place! It's
much worse at certain parts and that for so much money is inexcusable.

BTW: what purple fringing do you mean? (LOL, I updated the pictures, have a
look)

Some, such as the highly regarded sensor in the D300. The D3's
even better sensor didn't come from Sony though, which is no doubt
what you were hinting at. Maybe I'll get a D300, just to have a
camera that automatically reduces most of the purple and other types
of LCA that Canon bodies accept. :)
