HELP PLEASE - APS REWIND BACK TO ZERO WITH NEW FILM

Hi all

I can't believe I'm the only one who has this problem ... but despite
over and hours searching on the web I can't find any other
`occurences`??

My Konica Revio Z2 has developed a fault ... when loading a new film
it winds to 25 then back to 0 / Zero (film goes to setting `3` / X.
I've fitted a new battery and bought 2 new films (even tapped the film
which I read somewhere)... no different still rewwinds back to 0 /
Zero.

I am a technical person and have tried every combination of battery in
film in switch off switch on etc I can think of ... fault still there.
I,ve clicked the little setting back to `1` / o on the film several
times when trying different combinations of `fettling` (for want of a
better word lol)

Is it knackered or does soembody out there know of a fix PLEASE?

Thanks So Much in Anticipation

Graham

Graham-

There is so little traffic in the APS newsgroup, I thought I would at least be
able to sympathize with you!

As I understand it, some APS cameras have the ability to remove the film,
insert a different roll, remove that, and re-insert the first roll so it winds
back to the place where it was before being removed. (My Elph Jr. doesn't, as
far as I know.)

It would seem that your camera thinks the film was previously used, and rewinds
it to where it thinks there is unused film. If your camera has a setup menu, I
wonder if this is an optional setting that can be turned off and on? If so,
you might try changing it to see if there might be a flipped bit that can be
corrected by exercising the option.

Along that line of reasoning, you might have to leave the battery out a little
longer, but sometimes you can get the camera to return to original default
settings. I have a couple of digital cameras that do that if I forget to put
in another set of batteries while the first is being charged. After half an
hour or so without a battery, they reset.

You might contact the company and ask for advice. It might be a common
problem, or they might be willing to tell you how to reset the camera's
computer.

Thanks so much for the suggestions ... I had also thought along those
lines, but I cannot find any reference to my camera having a mid roll
rewind setting etc, but I will have a 2nd look now you have prompted
me.

I also left the batteries out for a few days and also pressed the
reset with a biro etc ... we think alike! I will try to e-mail Konica
as you suggest.

The annoying thing is both my daughter and I bought cameras (mine a
Konica and a hers a cheaper APS camera for about £30) when we in the
Canaries ... hers developed this same fault (can you believe it!?)
after the 2nd roll and mine has lasted 2 years and had about 20 or
more rolls through it.

Have you ever heard of the airport security x ray etc doing damage of
this type to cameras?

Thanks again Fred ... any more thoughts would be appreciated
