what about an LMS spectral camera?
 
small enough to carry around? don't see the value of XYZ

if you have LMS, should be able to come up with xy, upvp without XYZ

oh, I remember an X-Rite spectrophotometers that was hand held and not
much bigger than a camera, 20 some years ago ..., don't recall exposure
time ...
