I was told any good lens can out-resolve any sensor...

But has anyone on a D800 seen an excellent lens beat a good lens when it comes to resolution, in the centre, at f/8.0? Has anyone seen an f/1.4 lens beat an f/4 lens at f/2? -Wolfgang |

The even older chestnut is that f/8 in the centre is where even less than stellar lenses are usually very good. Oh, and that many people don't want to use only f/8 and the centre on a D800. (How do you stop UP an f4 lens?) I don't know what you'd do it, *I*'d use a focal reducer. -Wolfgang |

A focal reducer is just the opposite of a teleconverter/extender: reduces the image circle, reduces the focal length, increases the light per area where the image circle is. -Wolfgang |
