neatimage alternatives?
Are there any alternatives to neatimage that is just as good but
cheaper/free? Or, does the latest photoshop have this feature (I plan to buy it some day)? |

It's called demo version, but it is stated on their site that you can use it for free as long as you want for non-commercial purposes "The Demo edition of Neat Image is distributed as freeware for non-commercial use". IIRC there was a cheap version for 8 bit tiffs, a more expensive version for 16 bit/channel files, and another more expensive version that was a Photoshop plug-in (instead of standalone). At leat now it's working on TIFF http://www.neatimage.com/featu=ADremap.html In the table for Demo (free) mode for 8 bit tiffs it says "+/- **" ... look below in the fine print and it says "** +/- means input is supported and output is not" ... which means you can LOAD an 8 bit tiff and run the program to see what it will look like but you cannot write out in tiff format, which means it's useless on tiffs for practical purposes (except as a visual demo). At least that's how I interpret it, and though it's been 2-3 years since I used the Demo I think that's how it works. Bill |

As PSP9 includes perspective correction and chromatic aberration (purple-fringing) reduction, it's very good value for money. David |

I originally downloaded the free plugin for Photoshop which also works with Corel Photopaint and thought so much of it I bought the full version. I could have saved my money. The difference of having control over your settings only slows down the process and doesn't make a great deal of difference. If you use Photoshop or Photopaint, download the freebe.
