have a 501c and its not cocking the shutter(crank locked) etc the

The problem is within the body.

Any hints as to what could be wrong etc or references to get some
information. or even some sort of repair manual.

Before you make matters worse fiddling with it, take it to a camera
repair tech. If it's just "jammed" he may "fix" for no charge.

Shutter button lock engaged? (Should be in "O" position).

With the back off, push open the lower shutter. There is a small screw
under the mirror about halfway in. Turn it. __ don't force __.

Did you try a different lens?

Did you (with a small screwdriver) crank the lens shutter cocking screw
on the back of the lens? (___ carefully ___ - don't scratch the rear
element).
