Panning from a moving platform at night ...
ESA astronaut André Kuipers has installed 'NightPod' on the International
Space Station, an aid for taking night-time pictures of Earth. The first batch of pictures offer stunning images of cities at night. http://www.esa.int/esaHS/SEM3HNEWF0H_index_0.html David |

Personally, I am not very impressed by the high-resolution version of Athens - the movement is still apparent (and I do not . It seems that the pod needs still some work in order to help in shooting photos. Of course, shooting such a photo from a moving platform (e.g. an airliner) would be a really hard task at night. I could only find one example of my area taken without this device from the ISS and it was very low res, motion blurred. I'd love to see aligned satellite imagery as a map overlay. Change the colors and use that to indicate urban areas in red tones. |

The subject stays centred in frame so the final image is in focus." Sounds a LOT like an auto guided telescope, as used by astronomers. e.g. http://www.astropix.com/HTML/I_ASTROP/TRACKED/AUTOG.HTM BugBear |
