It’s Adobe’s Creative Cloud TITSUP birthday. Ease the pain with its
RGB-wrangling rivals

Alternatives to pixel-poking behemoth Photoshop

Feature Exactly a year ago today Adobe’s Creative Cloud servers went
dark for a whole day, leaving some users unable to open their apps.
Deadlines were missed, clients were let down, digital editions failed
to appear and a generally crap time was had by all.

....and the source of that story is the decidedly anti-Adobe Register.
It is full of misinformation and FUD.

....and Adam Banks is a major purveyor of anti-Adobe & anti-Apple FUD.

Feature Exactly a year ago today Adobe’s Creative Cloud servers went
dark for a whole day, leaving some users unable to open their apps.

....and here is where the first two pieces of misinformation are stated.
The Adobe servers did not go down for a whole day. I could not log into
the CC for 8 hours, not 24. In that time I could still work on
Photoshop and Lightroom as they are not on the servers, they are
installed on the user's computer. I could not access CC stored files on
Reveal, & Behance. All files in the Creative Cloud folders remained on
my desktop and accessible to PS & LR. They were just not able to sync
with the CC for those 8 hours.

I had all of my image files on my desktop, or in my archives. All of my
apps, and all of the apps any subscriber to Adobe's Creative Cloud uses
are installed on the subscribers computer. Online access is not
required to use them and no user was denied use of any app they had
subscribed to.

Deadlines were missed, clients were let down, digital editions failed
to appear and a generally crap time was had by all.

[...]

Only one online publisher reported having issues delivering to a
client. In their case they failed to have a failsafe, redundant
delivery system in place. There ar several methods other than the CC
those files could have been delivered.

I didn't suggest that. I suggested that those offerings are as equally
qualified bitmap editors as some of the software mentioned in the
article. All those editors have, of course different set of features.

The two I mentioned do have one feature in common that CC doesn't offer:
Continuos ofline operation...

which means it works perfectly fine offline, exactly as i said.

however, if you expect to be offline for more than 90 days, you might
have issues, and not just with photoshop either.
