We, the photographic community at large, have lost a few icons of late.
Avedon, Bresson, Newton, etc.

Has anyone else noticed the amount of bashing these poor souls have taken
after their death?

What's up with that? Are modern photographers so stupid as to deny the
influence these folks had or is it just jealousy and bitterness? I've never
seen another group take such vicarious thrills out of another person's
death as the group of people who post to the various photography newsgroups.

Love em or hate em, you've all been influenced by them and we outta be maybe
just a bit more respectful of the dead. We're losing some of the true
pioneers of the art we all claim to be participating in, we ought not lose
sight of that.

Besides, they're no heroes. Many of them were scumbags.

I suspect it is the nature of the business. Art and critics co-exist in a
symbiotic relationship. On the other hand, it has always amazed me that when
Steve Grimes passed away, I only saw commemts indicating the very highest
praise and deepist respect for the man;s integrity. Given the tendency of the
internet to bring out the best and the worst in us, the only positive comments
were the ultimate tribute to the man. He must of been the closest one can ever
get to be a living angle.

That makes you a narrow minded (to use your word) ****wit. I'm no fan of
Playboy, Penthouse or the like, but I do appreciate the nude female form in
it's many senses.

Those words from a conservative, narrow minded, dictatorial, puritan. No
wonder your mother said you'd never amount to much. Your mind snap shut at

photographers....Have you ever seen that show that follows a bunch of
paparazzi around as they chase celbrities all day? What a bunch of
