No, don't fear, fear not, I've not joined the digital masses (yet).
However, I have finally convinced the Michigan Department of Agriculture to
purchase a Nikon D70, to be used by yours truly, as well as a few other
select persons in the course of their work. I was the one who put the list
of camera possiblities together. I requested the Nikon (positioned
carefully in the middle of the list) because I can use it with my larger
personal system (which I've been using almost exclusively in lieu of their
crappy sony mavica), thereby facilitating my job. If anyon'es interested,
I'll let you know what I think of it after I get it--it hasn't been ordered
yet, and Finance and Budget have a way of tossing the proverbial monkey
wrench into the gears when they want to, but it's been tentatively approved
by the director, and I'm reasonably sure I'll have it in my hot little hands
before too long.

Hmmm, what's the email for the ethics watchdog ...

Have fun.

Cheers,
Alan.

No, no, no. I'm really getting it for work. Of course, now that it's
pretty much on its way, thoughts start to cross my mind... Painting with
light, for instance!

Sneaky Pete!

Hope you get it. I think if I ever get another DSLR I might seriously
consider the D70. I have a strong urge to fully return to using Nikon
gear.

My D60 is being borrowed by a fellow photographer who sold his 10D
thinking he could get a 1D Mark II relatively quickly. Shame. He has to
wait for about another few weeks. I'm almost half hoping he loses my D60
so I can claim a new camera from the insurance.

Thanks Dallas--I certainly am looking forward to it--the last of the road
blocks were cleared today...
I'm also looking forward to a new (previously demo, but Nikon factory
certified with a year's warranty) 8000ED scanner. Should be here tomorrow!

I'm all digital this week!

I never thought I would, either, but like anything else, it becomes an
addiction. :)

Enjoy it! Before long, you'll be wanting the upcoming upgrade model to
the D2H...maybe an 8 MP D3H? After all, Nikon will need to respond to
the Canon 1D MkII. The D2H was announced almost exactly a year ago, so
it shouldn't be long now.
